Interview: Roland Emmerich (2012)
Director Roland Emmerich knows what it means to go "all-out" when making a disaster film! From the man who brought us Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow comes 2012, the mother of all disaster movies. 2012 is an apocalyptic sci-fi thriller that follows the chaos that ensues when the world is threatened by numerous natural disasters . According to the Mayan calendar, the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012 so when a global cataclysm thrusts the world into chaos, divorced writer and father Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) uses his knowledge of the ancient prophecies to ensure that the human race is not completely wiped out.
Emmerich chatted with Tribute's Bonnie Laufer in Jackson Hole, Wyoming about why he decided to make another disaster film and why he was adamant about casting John Cusack as his action hero.
