Interview: John Cusack (2012)
Disaster movie expert Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow) brings us 2012, an apocalyptic action thriller that follows the chaos that ensues when the world is threatened by numerous natural disasters. According to the Mayan calendar, the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012 so when a global cataclysm thrusts the world into chaos, divorced writer and father Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) uses his knowledge of the ancient prophecies to ensure that the human race is not completely wiped out.
Cusack, not known for taking on the action hero role, told Tribute's Bonnie Laufer in Jackson Hole, Wyoming that he actually enjoyed the crazy ride of working on 2012, especially with Roland Emmerich at the helm. The cast and crew spent months in Vancouver living out disaster after disaster which included almost a week of shooting in gigantic water tanks.
