after seeing other of the "new musicals" and being disappointed. i can`t tell you how much i love phantom. it was visually stunning. i could not take my eyes off the screen. absolutly fantastic!!! if this does not get noticed by oscer, there has to be a something wrong with the judges. little sceptical of gerry butler but he did fantastic job. each actor puts his own twist on the charcter and i think he deserves credit for his performance. emmy was stunning and a beautifull voice. i have one suggestion, GO SEE IT!!!!
A great movie version to introduce to the general public. Make an effort to see the stage version and get even more satisfaction and appreciation of the spirit of " THEATRE "
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA IS THE MOST STUNNING AND BEAUTIFUL FILMS IVE SEEN ALL YEAR!!! FOR ME THE BEST FILM OF THE YEAR!!! THIS FILM GOES TO THE OSCARS!!!
I have seen the Phantom 4 times in Toronto, till this day it is my favourite story of all time. Andrew Lloyd Webber is a genious, and the music is amazing. The phantom of the opera has let me find my singing voice, I have been singing in a band since the age of 14 and I am now 27 and still going strong. Amazing story and play, and now movie, I would not change a thing...well I would of picked the Phantom at the end but that`s the way the story goes. Thanks, Maggie
I have seen POTO in London, NY, Toronto, and countless other places. I was skeptical going in to the movies to see it. I`m glad to report that it was equally as good on the big screen as anywhere that I have seen on stage. I would personally like to thank Andrew Lloyd Webber and Joel Schumacher for capturing this wonderful love story on film, to be enjoyed over and over again...and I can`t wait for the DVD!!! Go see it! It may not sound like something that you would normally like, but I can almost guarantee you that you`ll walk out of the theater moved.
It is hard to explain the heartbreak and passion it inspires...it reaches for the deepest feelings beautifully and breathtakingly...i`ve been in trancelike state since the day i first saw it...even though i`ve been singing all the songs in my head ALL THE TIME, i`m still enfatuated with the whole thing, thank you ALW,J.S., the cast...especially gerard...it`s no secret every female is crushing on you since this movie!
Enthralling, exciting, a tantillizing treat for the ears!
BEAUTIFUL movie! Loved it better than when it was on stage, which I saw twice. I had to stop myself from singing along. Very seductive. And I was able to understand the story more in this movie version - with the scenes, I could say "Oh, that`s what was happening in the play!" They were able to expand on what they did with the stage version with special effects. I hope it comes out on IMAX!
