This movie was everything a movie should be. The story grabbed me right from the start and pulled me in. Paul Giamatti was excellent in this movie, he had great chemistry with Dustin Hoffman. Expect to shed a few tears in this movie, it really is a roller coaster of emotions. I highly recommend it.
Disappointed that it wasn't funny. Love Paul Giamatti, but and I hear he had fun making it .... but, for someone who loves to laugh and have a good time, I rarely smiled and really wanted to leave before the end. UUUUUUgh!
I can say I enjoyed the movie although, like all Mordecai Richler characters, the main character is deeply flawed which can be dipressing. But I think it is his overall goodness that allows us to enjoy the movie. Once I stopped waiting for disaster to strike and enjoyed the journey, I was able to lose myself. Being from Montreal, it was particularly enjoyable to see Montreal Expos headlines and many references to the Montreal Canadians and historical icons. I would recommend this movie if you want a journey, but it is not mindless and playful movie, so be prepared.
Loved this movie. It makes you examine your own life and ask did I make the right choices?
I'd give it a 3.5. Acting was great, but the trailers were a bit misleading. It's nowere near as funny as you'd think - it's a black humour at best.
Just to see this wonderfull city of Montreal thats a 5
Loved it, Great movie Giamatti and Hoffman Simply Amazing and the rest of the cast wonderfull this movie should win the oscar Hoffman and Giamatti should win oscars, Thank you Mr. Lantos anybody who would go to see a movie like Little Fockers instead of Barney's Version is beyond my comprehension.
