I love Helen Miren, she's such a great actress! I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, it kept us captivated the entire time. The movie told the story with historical accuracy and social realities, well done!
Loved it, what a great movie!!
This movie poignant at times, yet inspirational and uplifting, was a remarkably good story. The final outcome bestowed a modicum of justice on many who had been deprived of so much by the Nazi thugs. Helen Mirren was, as ever, brilliant in her portrayal of Maria Altmann and Ryan Reynolds' performance, playing her justice-seeking, tenacious young lawyer, was note-worthy. The cinematography was especially wonderful!
Both my friend and I thought the movie was superb and worthy of five stars. As a European with Jewish family members I was touched by the horrors of what they went through. Being an art aficionado, I enjoyed the theme of the painting and the story behind it and was disturbed by the underhanded way the committee operated. The sub story of how Maria goes through the different emotions and the changing relationship between her and her lawyer was realistic and interesting. Helen Mirren's acting was wonderful as usual and I was pleasantly surprised by Ryan Reynolds. It is a movie that left me thinking and that I would highly recommend.
Really enjoyed this film-- the acting was excellent and the story was compelling. The weaving of the past and present stories was very well done.
This movie was excellent from beginning to end. It is also interesting to note the Woman in Gold painting can be seen in New York.
Great show- great story, no sex or violence, just emotion, and expression and REAL feeling expressed throughout.. I LOVE Helen Mirren-- I had no doubt at all that she was actually Maria in real life-- not acting, and Ryan was just simply sweet and believable. And the fact that it was based on a true story, makes it one of my favourites this year so far!!!
This was an excellent movie. I was impressed with the acting and thought Helen Mirren did a great job of portraying Maria Altmann.
The subject matter was heart wrenching but Maria's quips kept the show from being gloomy.
It was a wonderful movie and everyone clapped at the end..I would give it a 4. Good for families too and the acting was very good. Thanks for the passes.
