Great movie! Action packed, keeps moving!
Excellent
I have never read the comic book series but after watching the movie it is based on, I am very interested. This is not your typical superhero movie with it's complex characters fighting for the general good of mankind. Each one of the heroes are trying to deal with his/her own demons. Two thumbs up.
First off, this is not a movie that you want to take your Kids to. It is very graphic. With that said I found it followed the graphic novel very well, it left out some story line from the book that was not really needed, and changed the ending. But I found that the new ending was more relevant for the movie and was ok with it.
Based on the epic graphic novel, Zack Snyder does a faithful adaptation that is quite successful. The tone of the film is dark and ironic much like the source material and it blends together dark humour, gore and a very alternate reality all with great aplomb. The acting and characterizations are much better than expected (Jackie Earle Haley IS Rorschach). But because Snyder was so dedicated to being faithful (and not being ripped apart by angry fanboys), some of the gravitas and urgency of the novel is gone. Fans of the graphic novel should watch this film if only to see this incredible world come to life, but it may be too obscure for the mainstream public. We will definitely have to
I don't know what I expected before seeing The Watchmen. At the very least it shattered all my expectations. The characters were real and not cartoony. The visual effects were stunning. What I found expecially contemplating was the psychological impact. It's a good thing The Watchmen wasn't released in 1985! :0
I really enjoyed it. The story line was good.
Visually the movie looked amazing. However, it was too long. They could have shaved 1/2 an hour off of it.
The graphics were awesome. The monotone dialogue was tiresome.
As a newcomer to Watchmen, I wasn't sure what to expect. What I saw was a fine companion piece to the Dark Knight. Though DK is definitely a stronger movie, the dark, uncompromising tone of Watchmen was impressive. And kudos to Jackie Earle Haley for turning in an outstanding performance!
