One of the best movies I`ve seen in a long time. Not a dull moment. If you enjoyed the live production, you will certainly enjoy the movie. Must see!!!
perfect tranfer from stage to screen. Emmy rossum was perfect as Christine. I fact I think that the story works better on film than on stage.
Having seen the Broadway production and a touring production in Boston, I must say the film surpassed all my expectations as it actually improved on the source material. Patrick Wilson is already a proven theatrical commodity, and Gerry Butler and Emmy Rossum are true finds. All three were fantastic. I must say, I prefer the PHANTOM film over its stage incarnation. Critics be damned, I am absolutely enamored by this movie.
A very moving love story at it`s finest! Great job and performances from all who were involved in this grandeur opera. I`ve seen the live stage play and the movie adds more spice to the whole production and I love this version, thank you and all the best wishes into the new year.
Bravi, bravi! Joel Schumacher has really done the musical justice. Michael Crawford may have defined the Phantom, but Gerard Butler really made us FEEL the Phantom. Contrary to others, I thought the casting was superb and that Emmy Rossum really did a fantastic job, being so young. A real spectacle and feast for the eyes and ears! The MUST-see for the year, and surely in the Oscars` good books!!!
A master peice
This movie is so wonderful, especially if you loved the Phantom in the theatre. Everyone was cast perfectly - Christine was brilliant and Gerard Butler as the Phantom was mesmerizing. See the movie. Go on...get!
I have the soudtrack and WOW. I have been waiting this since 86. Thanks Lord Webber for the screenplay and the great movie.
Wonderful! The cinematography is excellent with amazing camera angles! Emmy Rossum has a lovely voice (a hard thing to admit since I`m a huge Sarah Brightman fan) that I hope she keeps using. I loved Minnie Driver as Carlotta! Gerard Butler had incredible talent as an actor and sang quite well despite not having singing lessons. He added real pathos! I have to admit that they could have made him look more deformed. The music, as always, brought tears to my eyes. Andrew Lloyd Webber sure knows how to compose music that touches a person`s soul.
i recently watched the phantom of the opera on the weekend and loved it. The first song that rossum sang brung tears to my eyes! the costumes were extravagant and all the songs were overwhelming. Gerard butler was a very good looking phantom .. but im sure many of us dont mind :)he had a very enticing voice which drew you into the film. I overall highly reccomend it as a teenager go see it!
