an aging british equivalent of the brat pack relocate to india to make their retirements affordable. they wind up in a dilapidated old hotel and magic happens (or not). smart, detailed film with a gentle sense of humour and unexpected wisdom.
gem of a movie! movies have become nothing more than special effects and blank words. but, then there comes a 'gem of a movies,' the likes of 'the best exotic marigold hotel!' perfect acting, timing and everything a movie should be. it made us laugh, cry and cheer for all the characters and their individual story. life and money are a precious commodity to waste on entertainment, unless it gives one satisfaction. this movie and actors, accomplished this, and we just want to thank them!
fabulous movie - warm and realistic
amazing journey of retirees!
as always its a pleasure to watch dame judi dench, dame maggie smith and the lovely bill nighy. incredible chemistry and timing, they make it look so easy. india is a character in itself with its own complex layers, but it never overshadows the cast, the quick witted script or the fine performances.
refreshing cast! beautiful and meaningful story!
this movie will appeal to the zoomer / boomer generation. i has great performances by the ensemble cast. it also has enough heart to appeal to the early twenty crowd. not for the emotionally unprepared
