Someone earlier said this production would give them ear worms. After seeing the movie, if I were a cat, I would need a dose of de-worming medicine. Also something for heart worm, ringworm and rabies possibly.
Of course it's not "realistic" or "believable." It's a musical, and it's fantasy. The music was great (Andrew Lloyd Webber always is...), and the acting and humor were thoroughly enjoyable as well. If one wants an "escape" from day to day norms, this is a delightful way to go!
Worst movie ever made. It’s so bad you can’t even watch it to make fun of. Has no plot and no characters and songs were just fitted it. Save your money and go to anything else. This truly tanks.
My wife and I saw the movie today, Taking our grand children to see it tomorrow. Have seen the stage play many times. The players are excellent, the music excellent, this is a fantasy , and you should be willing to let your mind go with it. It should win some awards.
I would rather remove my own skull than see this movie again, it’s the movie equivalent of menstrual cramps, an insult to movies, actual cats, and humans too
Delightful and entertaining with a very talented cast and creative sets. An improvement over the play in explaining the plot. The music and dancing are top notch, and there are some stand-out numbers. Dench, Swift, Corden, and Hudson are excellent in their roles, but so are many of the other actors. The special CGI effects shouldn't put anyone off in this day and age.
Wonderful, whimsical, and clever theatrical production. Great ballet and dance numbers. You just have to "go with it", use your imagination, and be entertained. There is, indeed, a plot where special "Jellicle" cats come together to compete at the "Jellicle Ball" to be chosen for another life. It's a kind of "Alice in Wonderland" fantasy that's loads of fun to watch! If you haven't seen the play, at least listen to some of the songs on-line to get the gist of it (especially with the British accents).
This movie was dead on with the story, music and characters in the theatrical version, I highly recommend going to see it. It was a 10 for me! I would suggest doing some research regarding the story line before going and being disappointed. Rating the movie as boring, waste of time etc is not fair.
Fantastic production, and certainly the visuals complement the theatric productions which we have seen in London and New York. Highly entertaining with excellent dancers and that music! Which should give us both ear worms over the next while!
This one didn't land on its feet.
