This is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. If you are a normal person then you will love movies. If you like history then you will not like this movie, only because you are stupid and do not know you are watching a movie, not the history channel. I am so buying the DVD.

i dont know how a lot of you are saying it makes the greeks look so good when they admit to corruption and killing babies... what people need to understand is that this movie is based on something that really DID happen. almost everything in the movie is based on what happened and what was said according to historians. 300 spartians along with a few hundred other volunteers DID hold back the persian empire from spreading thru europe. the spartians are some serious guys. so to me, this is more about letting us know history than simply watching another kill em all flick. good movie

Is this movie pure eye candy? Yes. Does it have crazy action & blood? Yes. Should I see it in Imax & smoke a little something? Yes. Will I be entertained? Yes. Will the script win an Oscar? No...but it`s your basic myth story line(good vs. evil) & it has a few good lines in it. Now, is it racist? Yes...if your Persian, but it`s a story & stories like this need bad guys, let`s just say it`s not very PC. Much better than Sin City...4.00 out of 5.00.

this movie glorifies Spartans and villainifies persians, from what history depicts, Spartans are representated in somewhat of an accurate manner (costumes and battle formations); however, why couldn`t the same be done for the Persians??? you can make the spartans as heroic as you want and make the 300 of them slaughter our million, but at least get the costumes correct (Persian Infantry look like arabs and the Persian Immortals look like mongols)! In addition, King Xerxes is portrayed as an extremely tall and skinny indian with lots of jewelery and no body hair (how many Persians do you know that fit this description???)

Absolutely horrid depiction of the Persian people. Portrayed as disfigured evil monsters is hardly befitting the most civilized people of the world at the time, who invented the declaration of human rights and had the largest and just government system.

This is an outstanding movie. The CGI offers a new aspect to movies such as this. The detailed backgrounds and blood effects are perfect. Anyone who complains that this movie portrays Persians as hideous monsters who only want complete world domination, or that the Spartans are portrayed as everything perfect and the weak in their society are killed can just shut up. It`s a movie. Get over it. Frank Miller created his comic to show 100% ass-kicking action. Zack Snyder directed this movie to show 100% ass-kicking action (even in the diplomatic scenes there is action). If you like action movies, watch this one.

After Troy and Alexander this is a spectacular film honouring the Greeks during the Greek Empire. What is even more important is the fact that the Spartans were incredible and finally they are being recognized in this century. MAGNIFICENT
