In the hilarious restricted trailer for the romantic comedy Why Him?, proud father Ned Fleming (Bryan Cranston) looks back at this life with his beautiful daughter Stephanie (Zoey Deutch), from birth to adolescence, remarking on the very special bond that forms between a father and his daughter. Stephanie, now a "strong and confident" woman, introduces Ned, her mom Barb (Megan Mullally) and her brother Scotty (Griffin Gluck) to her new boyfriend Laird (James Franco), and he's exactly what every father dreads — loud, obnoxious, and heavily tattooed. What's worse — Laird is planning to propose to Stephanie that very weekend.
Now Ned must figure out a way to stop the engagement from happening, while Laird is determined to prove he's the picture-perfect son-in-law.
