The official trailer for War Machine opens on U.S. General McMahon (Brad Pitt) giving a talk to his group of soldiers about their duty to build, protect and support the civilian population in Afghanistan. He's asked to get his troops in order and finish the job. His tactic is to build Afghanistan into a “free and prosperous nation,” though he learns that the politics of getting the job done are a little more complicated (and awkward) than expected, especially when he is challenged by a journalist (Tilda Swinton) who wants to make sure General McMahon’s personal ambitions are kept in check. McMahon and his troops go out in the field trying to do right by those who sent them and the people of Afghanistan. They're told they're not there to win the war, just clean up the mess left behind.
War Machine debuts on Netflix May 26, 2017.
