Keira Knightley, who plays the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker and The Four Realms, admits she was disappointed that she didn't get to wear wings for her role, that they were added by computer afterwards instead. She describes the ideas she had for the role, including laughing the theme song from the ballet, watching as many version of the Sugar Plum Fairy dance on YouTube as she could find, and coming up with ways to be "sugary" and "sweet." She says the message of the movie is for girls to realize they don't have to wait to be rescued, they can go out and save the world themselves, like Clara does in the movie.
