Joel Edgerton and Isla Fisher Interview
Australian actors Joel Edgerton and Isla Fisher were ecstatic when they landed roles in visionary director Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby.
The $120 million production also stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, the mysterious self-made millionaire carrying on a doomed romance with Carey Mulligan’s Daisy Buchanan, a superficial socialite trapped in a marriage to her philandering blue-blood husband Tom (Joel Edgerton). Isla Fisher plays Myrtle Wilson, Tom’s mistress and Tobey Maguire co-stars as Nick Carraway, the writer/narrator who rents a house on Gatsby’s lavish property at the height of the so-called Jazz Age with its flapper skirts and general air of hedonistic excess.
Tribute.ca spoke with Joel and Isla in New York about working on this grand production and helping to bring their fellow Aussie Baz Luhrmann’s vision to the big screen.
