Ruben (Riz Ahmed), a drummer for a punk-metal band, begins to lose his hearing. A doctor confirms that Ruben's hearing is deteriorating rapidly. Ruben wants to continue playing, believing that it's only temporary and his hearing will come back. When he goes completely deaf, his girlfriend (Olivia Cooke) finds him a secluded house for the deaf to help him adapt.
