The emotional trailer for Queen of Katwe begins in a humble, run-down Ugandan town called Katwe, where a young dreamer named Phiona wonders aloud if she can do big things in such a small place. Her world-weary mother (Lupita Nyong'o) advises her to just let it go, as she'll be "disappointed."
Phiona, while resigned to her mother's words and to her simple life, happens upon a classroom full of children playing chess. There she meets Robert Katende (David Oyelowo), a sports outreach director and chess coach, who sees potential in her. Thus begins a tale of hope, triumph and redemption as Phiona goes on to represent Uganda - and Katwe - at the World Chess Olympiads, proving big things can indeed happen in small places.
