Josh Duhamel describes Love, Simon as being about acceptance, tolerance and love. He also reveals that's it's funny and not heavy-handed at all, even though it's about a gay high school boy who's terrified about coming out. He describes his character, Simon's father, as the dad who always takes the joke one step too far. Josh admits he can relate to that because he's been known to do that himself.
