Jack Reacher: Never Go Back director Edward Zwick touches on the appeal of the film and the central character (played by Tom Cruise). He says Jack Reacher is not a soldier or detective, but "someone who has decided to be there in a time of need for people who are in trouble." He equates Jack to a modern version of a samurai, someone who is in search of justice and righting wrongs. Edward also chats about the hard training that the actors in the film put in to embody their roles, specifically highlighting Tom's desire to do his own stunts. He says the most boring job on set was being Tom's stuntman.
