Disliked how drawn out the beginning was, didn't keep my interest.

Go see the film before giving one star and be honest. It is quite entertaining and fun for all. A musical if you love music. You may want some chocolate later😀

The movie was good and entertaining for both old and young alike. I do not understand the negative reviews, especially when many of them were from just the previews.

This is quite imaginative as it should be. It's Willy Wonka after all! And it's not just a remake of the original. Johnny Depp was a better actor choice but then he's a bit older now. This story is less on the weird side than the others. It's really quite heartwarming. There's more of a Broadway feel to it than the others, too. While it's probably not going to win any awards, it's definitely worth a look for the young at heart.

Timmy Chalet is terrible. Another failure. When are they going to stop putting this guy in movies. He ruins most of the movies he is in.

Okay, after watching this, I am seriously convinced most of the people trashing this didn't actually watch it. They just saw the very idea of its existence, saw the casting choice and everything and just wrote it off as a bad cash grab while ignoring the fact that it's directed by the same mastermind who gave us Paddington. And while it's not perfect, this is anything but soulless. Clearly the people behind this had a real vision and weren't just making this to cash in off of people's nostalgia. Now, I'll admit, I did groan a bit when it was revealed this was clearly taking influence from the film that isn't true to the book, but it's well done. The songs aren't anything too special, but they are relatively good, though there are at least a couple I felt could have been cut. And honestly, the lead actor is a lot better than people are giving him credit for. It's not just recycled Wonka. He brings his own thing to the table, and he's actually quite charming in the role. Seriously, guys, give this a real chance. Don't jump to conclusions based on promotional material.
