the rocket was flat footed, or collapsed arches as some call it as am i. he didn`t have "bad feet". they just use that figure of speech in the movie.in those days if you were flat footed you were rejected when trying to enlist so it wasn`t necessarily he was dodging the army as he couldn`t have been a military man if he wanted to. i just came from the movie and i have know doubt this is the best movie of the year even if you`re not into sports. it would have been very easy for the producers to change camera angles so the details didn`t have to be so accurate but they didn`t and captured the times very well. my only dissappointment was i took
i thought it was great! it had a true story to it. the movie was like you were took back in time to the rocket playing hockey. every canadian should see the movie for we are the hockey fans and hockey is our culturer...all im saying it is a must see movie.
It was a really engrossing well made film. Roy Dupuis really captured the rocket`s intensity. Great recapturing of the era and the obstacles faced by Quebecors.
It`s about time! A Canadian movie that surpasses any other movie of it`s genre, or MOVIE period! What a well produced, directed and acted movie, not to mention the cinematography! It`s not a sport movie...it`s a movie about a man that nobody forgot.
Amazing film... learned lots on #9 The Rocket. A must see!!!
for the person who wrote he was playing hockey while evryone was at war thats just sad that all your conclusion to the movie was that. He was following a dream. And what happens when you dont want to go to war, i noe many people who wouldnt never set foot near a war let alone join the army. so just think about what you would of done...follow your dream or go to war???
Although somewhat flawed by revisionism, the movie nevertheless is a work of art with wonderful cinematography, stirring themes and tremendous acting, partcularly by Roy Dupuis.
I forget that I was watching a movie - I cheered and clapped as if I was at a real game. Timeline was before my time...but I relived those glorious days of `real hockey`.
the cinematography was great. Roy Dupuis is a very talented actor. th move was well directed and written.
I just got back from opening night of " The Rocket" playing at the Palace in downtown Windsor and here is my review of this movie. The Rocket a.k.a.Maurice Richard was originally given the nickname "The Comet". I did not know this. In fact this movie is big on little known insights into Richard`s life. The focus of the movie isn`t really as much about what he did on the ice as what he did off ice. In fact the staged scenes of him playing hockey are quite lame and don`t come close to what it must have been like watching him play game to game. The movie also failed to capture his famously crazed look as he attacked the net. Despit
