this was a real stinker. the only saving grace was costume and set design. this is as much a historical movie as pirates of the carribian was.

Great film. Definately should be an Oscar nomination for best movie (but won`t win), best actor (but won`t win), best director (but won`t win) and the best supporting actor - Ken Watanabe - who was brilliant in his english movie debut. Hopefully, he wins. I reccomend this movie to anyone.

Zwick is a director with his brilliant combination of beauty and inevitability. Glory and The last Samurai are powerful and heroic stories. M. Watanabe is an artist of great passion. The dressing scene for the final battle was the epitome of the most loving act I have seen portrayed between a man and a woman. The Samurai`s son...I am close to speechless at this movie`s intensity... Beautiful insanity. The greatest honor for me to participate as only a spectator. My heart is in agony because I was on the outside looking in. I pray that my sons will have an opportunity to become real men, such as these characters. Thank you to all involved.

Honestly one of the best movies I`ve ever seen. Kind of like a mix between Braveheart and Crouching Tiger, taking the best parts of each. Watanabe was soooooooooooooo good! Unbelievable...I want to go watch it again!

Incredible movie. I thought it really brought out the japanese culture, and way of life. It left me feeling mystified, and intrigued. Powerful performance by Tom Cruise. Excellent

ken Watanabe what a powerfu performance he exudes authority and charisma. I as so happy they did not have tom cruise be the "last samurai" it would have been tragic..........as it was he did a good job. If you have any heart or love of culture you will love this movie. Very Inspiring
