not even close to being as good as the book. the book was darker and they took too many liberties with the movie and the acting was poor. changing the ending was a dumb idea too. this movie was more like a weird tim burton movie.
absolutly amazing! it's very simillar to the book. i think the reason people are giving it such low rating is because of the children fighting to the death thing, but that's how it was written in the book. there is so much more things i can say about this movie (positive) and also about why people are giving it such a low rating (i could explain) but that would take long considering i like to really explain things, but it's an absoulutly great movie! just make sure you get there early to see it :) i for one can't wait to see it again!
i've seen this four times now and liked it a little less each time. i'll be seeing it again on cheap night.
if you are going to make a movie about children being forced to kill each other for the enjoyment of the public, i would think that the tone one would reach for would be something more along the lines of shindler's list or at least a tone of some satirical value. and you would think that the angst, fear, disgust and overall awfulness for the main characters would be a focal point. you would think the blood lust of the watching masses would form a visceral sense of at least moderate horror that would serve as a backdrop to all of this. and most of all you would think that children, even children raised to expect that they might someday have to enter a tournament like this, would struggle with
i've seen this movie three times. i can't get it out of my head.
interesting storyline but characters not believable. could be shorter in length to improve.
so far so good...but hope it doesn't turn into a 'cash-cow' franchise!
