One writer recently commented that everything in the film on Opus Dei is true. I don`t much like O.D. but that comment is rubbish. For example, there are no monks in Opus Dei, albino or otherwise. It is an organisation of lay workers and includes some priests but there are no monks, nuns, or friars. More importantly, O.D. does not try to kill off the Priory of Sion because there is no Priory of Sion. It was invented in the 1950s by a mentally-unstable man who also invented other fake societies in France.
This was a fun movie which does a reasonably good job of conveying the story and details in the book. It`s worth seeing.
this movie is probably the worst movie i have ever seen. bad performance, bad facts -- FACTS? All the stuff about Opus Dei is LIES, LIES, LIES! No Opus Dei member draws blood. I cannot believe this movie was allowed to be made!
What lies! What nonsense! Jesus was not married to Mary Magdalene! I cannot believe that the film studios allowed this movie to be made! Don`t believe this supposed "truth" everyone, it`s all ridiculous nonsense!
This movie was amazing. Not only was it as true to the book as it could be in 2h 30mins but the acting was just wonderful. Tom Hanks played Robert L. very well and, had they have gone for someone young, I don`t think one would be able to believe he was a scholar of such prominence. The casting all around was just great as were the visuals. Fan of the book or not it is something to see.
The movie was true to the book and it was a good movie. That is what people have to take it as a "MOVIE".
I enjoyed the movie. There were a few things added that didn`t need to be in it, but I think overall they tied up the book very well for 2 1/2 hours. It took me days to read the book!! So not every movie can have it all, can it?
Relax people, it`s just a blasphemous attack on Jesus Christ! Perhaps these characters will target Muhammad next. Priests and ministers should simply command their congregations to boycott this film. We live in a free country and everyone should be able to see it if they want. But that cuts two ways: everyone has a right to refuse to see it too and churches have a right to order their congregations to boycott it on pain of excommunication. This will worsen: it is a prelude to even worse attacks against Jesus, things not yet even imaginable.
I beg to differ towards one comment. The book IS marked Fiction, but it doesn`t say that the entire thing is based on facts. It says that the rituals and things such as Opeis Dei are based on facts. which is true. Evrything in the book about Opeis Dei is true, and the rituals. The author never said the entire Holy Grail thing was true. It`s just another look on the happenings of Christ. It`s just a movie people. I loved it.
The movie is a well done, it is a movie people, not a book so don`t expect a movie to reveal all the thoughts and emotions that you could read in the book. The actors were perfect for that movie, they played it well. The book was so well written that the images I had made of the scenes in my mind were exactly the same in the movie, which means to me that the movie reflects well what is in the book.
