anyone who is stating that this is a good movie needs to watch more movies. This movie was pure crap. The story was just boring and lacked any intelligence and just ended up being a cheesy monster movie in the end. How completely lame.

This movie was a huge disappointment. What a complete and utter piece of crap. This is the kind of dribble that 8th graders can write. There was nothing at all impressive about this movie. I was totally mortified that I was the one who suggested to my friends to see this utter piece of crap.

J. J. Abrams' pays homage to Spielberg in this engaging adventure/comedy set in the 70s. Look closely and see elements of Jaws, ET, Indiana Jones, and the Goonies skilfully intertwined as young teens deal with a seemingly-malevolent alien, a government cover-up, and coming-of-age romance. Entertaining and fun for the whole family!
