For anybody criticizing the movie that hasn`t played the game; stop. You`re just making yourself look totally idiotic in front of those that played the actual game. For a gamer such as myself, I found this movie to capture the essence of Silent Hill, the game, itself. It is intellectually horrifying, philisophically profound, yet it delivers. The most important aspect of the movie was that it captures the mood and atmosphere surrounding the game perfectly; from the camera angles to the dark, mysterious surroundings. 5/5 (probably less if you haven`t played the game before)
B-rated acting, horrible writing, and an overall comedic movie with a horror genre category attached to it. The only thing worthwhile was the beautiful visuals. Someone was on something cheap when writing this movie. There are holes through out the whole movie. A sorry attempt at trying to be witty only made it worse. A babbling 1 year-old makes more sense then Silent Hill. Anyone who doesn’t think there should be a point to a movie is obviously entertained by watching grass grow which in my opinion is 10 times more enjoyable then this sorry, poor excuse for a so-called movie. Give me 10 bucks, a camcorder along with a Dora storybook a
The movie completly captured the atmosphre of the original game...there were some very scary scenes and the ending, although unexpected, was a thinker for sure.
I thought Silent Hill was an excellent adaptation of the video game, and a very terrifying movie. After being so dissapointed by the Resident Evil series, as realted to the games themselves, I was impressed with this movie. There were some truly terrifying scenes in this film, and the special effects were excellent.
I Don`t know what all these people are talking about. They have absolutely no taste in movies. Maybe it`s because as a film maker myself i can see other things that normally people wouldnt think about. Shot in Hamilton, Ontario. That`s awsome. I went to the locations they shot at and i got an eerie feeling from just being there. That must mean the movie had an impact on me. It was original too, no overkill, mostly a phsycological thriller. Definately the best video game movie ever made. Hope Christophe Gans is already in production for Silent Hill 2
this movie freaked me out in the beginning.. but i wish the ending was a little differant.. other then that, it was awsome.. i loved it and i hope everybody goes to watch it ~Matt~
Meh, it wasn`t scary, but sure twisted. And I loved it. 4/5 Stars.
Definitely one of the best game movies that have been released within a 2-3 year period. And it was a fairly good movie when speaking generally. I think the general audience would enjoy a freaky, gritty, hold on to your seat type of horror flick. I do recommend this movie if you`re looking for a nice horror film for great entertainment. In my opinion, DOOM was one of the worst game to film adaptations. It was a good movie in general, but NOTHING like the game!
Although this was one of the best "Game to Film" adaptation so far, but I still think Resident Evil is the best Game to film movie. Silent Hill was pretty good, however, but not as good when you`re looking at "Game to Film" adaptations. **** (4 Stars)
wow...wishes I could vote negative 5 stars for this one
