Such a poorly done movie dont waste ur money on it. The horrible love story over powers what this movie should really be about.. The soliders in the trenches and how horrible it was to be there and how the Canadians over came everything that was thrown at them . The movie should not even be called Passchendaele since the one part that is really about the war is in the last 10 min of the movie. Bad movie and does no justice for our men who fought and died over there for us. God bless our soliders.

every school kid in Canada should see this movie. A compulsory item for social studies class.

This is love story not a docu-drama nor is it a movie about a battle. It is a movie about his grandfather with a history lesson written at the end of the movie. Paul Gross, who did everything (acting, writing, directing and sponsoring the movie), is in the nearly every scene ... go figure! Over all the movie was a good first try. It was a bit of a tear jerker. The movie does needs more material to make it more interesting for the historical perspective or be a very short love story. The movie should be called, "A story about a guy would fought in a famous Canadian WW1 battle." Paul Gross showed the fallacy and opinions of any war, but lost me with the love story part. I really didn't see eit

This is a movie to make every Canadian proud, if not even teary-eyed. Paul Gross presents a moving love story, while at the same time displaying an event that heralded Canada's coming of age as a nation. Every Canadian should see it, if for no other reason than to gain some appreciation of themselves and of Canada's strength. No,it's not "Saving Private Ryan", nor is it intended to be. PASSCHENDAELE contains historical fact, blended into a love story. It's a tale that should make every Canadian proud...and it IS 100% Canadian. What's wrong with that? Thank you, Paul Gross, for the best movie I've seen in years and certainly the best ever originated by and produced in Canada.

Passchendaele is a classic moving tell of a nice love story and the tragic events of WW1. Superbly made, well casted that leaves quite a impact in your mind for days after watching the movie. A vey nice treat for movie watchers after a long time. This film desreves atleast 6 oscars including best director, best producer, best actor, best screen play, and Catherine's role/acting would very likely support best actress award for her if not, she deserves atleast suporting actress award in my opinion. It could grab 6th award for excellent photography as well. We loved the movie and talked about it for 3 -4 days after watching. I never gave any reviews before, this is my first time and do not

This was a great movie. Although, I was expecting more from Passchendaele than there was, I still learned a little about WW1 and our part in it. It is mostly a love story and the emotional/mental struggles of a soldier, but the war scenes were enough. I have just finished the book, fantastic. Overall it is a great movie but if you are looking for nothing but war, ........better look somewhere else.

I loved this movie. It was amazing and it deserves a hand. It is the first Canadian movie I have seen in theatres!

This movie had so much potential, but fell short. The poor shaping of the script and unfocused plot lines resulted in a mess as muddy as the battle field. I love Paul Gross, but he should have let someone else play the lead. Good concept, poor execution.

Love story or not, it is about time a movie director in Canada showcased one of our finest moments in history. Canadians should be proud about our war history. Instead of showcasing our failures, as shown on the CBC with movies like Dieppe, it is about time we had a movie about our success. And speaking about bravado as one person said was unrealistic, as a former member of the military, that bravado is there and lends confidence to your buddies who are in combat and in stressful situations. Bravo Paul Gross
