Perfect, Robbins, Eastwood and Penn could walk away recipients Oscar night. Amazing movie

This is one movie that "tries" to be deep and meaningful but actually doesn`t really offer much that is original. And the wife`s speech at the end justifying her husband`s disgusting vigilante "justice" was offensive to my intelligence. The ending made him seem like the good guy! If there was ever a movie that was irritating, it`s this one.

The ending was unsatisfying, too much like a Western.

Sean Penn was great, but he has done this before. No big stretch. Watch for the boom mike in the interrogation scene with Kevin Bacon and Laurence Fishburn. Very sloppy. Overall, a better-than-average murder mystery, but no way should this film win an Oscar.

Very well done! Lighting is amazing - a work of art, as are the filming, sound and music. Strong performances, especially by Tim Robbins. Best Picture of the year, and in the top 10 of all time!! If you didn`t love this movie, get your intelligence checked.

This was a movie. This is what filmmaking should be. Be thankful, even with the debatable ending, that at least we have a film we care enough to be disspointed with. This film was realistic, with true conflict, gut wrenching suspense and raw emotion. Mr. Penn will win the globe but the academy may not even honor him with a nomination because of the severity of his character. Mr. Robbins, however, won`t but should be nominated for the same categories. True to some other comments, this ending, I believe, was one of the worst in recent history. DON`T FLOG A DEAD HORSE!!
