A funny movie, set in the not so funny era of the second world war. The nudity was definitely necessary for the story, and if possible, was tasteful. My 68 year old mother loved it, and wants me to buy the DVD.

I do not understand why some movies are hits and others, like this one, are ignored. This movie has a strong story line, wonderful performances and several "cheer out loud" moments. For a movie about nudity, it was tasteful, for a movie about war, it was funny, for a movie about love, it was touching. Can`t get better than this.

This movie actually sustained itself very well through acting and a plot, rather than stupid cliche remarks, special affects, and slapstick comedy ... what a novel idea! Inspired by true events, this is one the best movies I have seen in a while. I must ask, is there anything that Judi Dench performs in that isn`t good?

Dench and Hoskins are fantastic in this very entertaining movie. Lots of laughs with a touching ending. Beautiful costumes, sets and music. A must see!
