Great movie. Not quite a five star.
The script is brilliant and really emphasises the nobility of Norwegian self-sacrifice at all levels as well as the psychological toll that living under a death threat exerts on Max and his comrades. A superbly tense drama (thanks for the tickets, Tribute!)
I really enjoyed Max Manus, especially from a Norwegian's perspective.
it was interesting to watch how those young people want to fight to get the country back.
True story of WWII heroics that's exciting and engrossing, and even has some romance in the mix.
Very suspencful and a great protrail of the courage shown by the Norwegians!
Good turnout for a 4:00 PM showing of a foreign language movie about World War II in Norway.
I went in thinking this would be heavy on 'war' content but there was little of that, only shown in support of the main story, which revolved around the main character's relationship with his team members and a woman he meets. It was refreshing to see a movie about a 'hero' who was so ambivalent about the role he was playing and the toll on the people around him. Depite the subtitles the movie engaged me for the duration, and what was missed in translation/inflection was easily readable on the faces of the actors. It was very well cast with a talented group.
Thoroughly enjoyable
It was hard on the eyes to read the subtitles at times.
