A bit too long, but main actors performed very well. For someone not familiar with the events, more historical footage would have helped. Delicate themes treated with tact. The shadow image representing MLK was reminiscent of Hitchcock and revealed just enough without directly sayhing it was him.
Excellent film. Acting superb. He was a bit of a scoundrel now wasn't he?!
This could have been so much more, but wasn't. A disappointment.
I enjoyed watching Leonardo DiCaprio in this film and found the flashbacks in the movie made it more interesting.
Would have been better in 3-D.
VERY BORING. Theatre was filled with a bunch of elderly old ppl. You can have a better understanding of the story behind the movie if you took social 30 in high school.
Interesting movie. Amazing what J Edgar got away with. Not a nice man at all. Leo was fantastic and it was an oscar worthy performance, but too may confusing flashbacks.
This was a very thought provoking movie that I decided to see on a whim. I'm glad I did. I didn't know much about Hoover being a Canadian, but he had a very interesting life. His story is captivating as are Leo Dicaprio's and Armie Hammer's performances. Even if you don't know much about this important historical figure, see this movie, and you will appreciate his life!
This movie tries to redeem J. Edgar Hoover for his sins/crimes against Americans. Di Caprio seems uncomfortable in the role, not quite sure how to play it. That's Eastwood's fault. I expected better.
I enjoyed J.Edgar's film, good for Oscar's nomination!
