If you like the Death Wish with Charles Bronson, you wil love this one too! The wife and I both loved this movie. Good story, good drama, good plot, and a good ending.
amazing best money spent
Entertaining which meets my criteria for success.
Characters were well played. Plot, action... Didn't think I'd like this movie but, surprisingly, I DID! Audience was cheering and applauding as Willis's character reeks vengence on the evil-doers.
Wow this was bad. I fully realize Bruce Willis will never win a best actor award but even by his standards this was bad. And I blame the director. Even the scenes in the ER were shallow and weak. Of course we went to see this for the guns and blood and that was ok but even this it had massive holes in the plot and timeline. I couldn't decide if this happened over a course of weeks or days. I also couldn't decide if this supposed to be Chicago, a city of 2.7 million or a small town of a few hundred where the interactions and coincidences are contained to a small group. Sorry - but no. This was not a good movie. Save your money and wait for it to come to a TV near you.
Nope, nope, nope-ity, nope-nope !! This was so bad it was painful and made no sense. There was no development of any kind between scenes. Almost all the conversations felt like they were shot solo. Very rare to see two of the primary actors in the same shot. This led to bad acting, poor delivery, no emotional connection or continuity. D'Onofrio was the only saving grace and he really had no reason to be in the movie. The interaction between Willis and Shue was something like a high school play. Strained and not believable. The violence was ok but even that was done wrong. Where do you find a 6 ft bumper jack ? Of course no-one checks for finger prints all over the jack, brake fluid or the surgical precision of the torture wound. And of course the daughter wakes from a weeks log coma with almost no ill effects. I found myself begging for this to be over so I could leave. Even the sound track was offensive. Just a horrible tribute to the original and a bad bad bad add to the resume for everyone involved. Rotten Tomatoes scores this at 15% and that might be generous
Entertaining. All you can ask for Scum that needed punishing got punished. Satisfying to see the baddies cry for mercy and get none. Like Clint said "Im fresh out"
It's hard to follow a classic but this one did a pretty good job.
Dr. Die Hard or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Gun This was a competent, paint-by-numbers, vigilante revenge flick. Bruce Willis is believable as an older man who wants to kill the scum of the earth. Writing, pacing, direction are all good. There's even a nice pro-second amendment message woven into the finale.
It comes down to this: if you liked the first one with Charles Bronson way back when, you'll enjoy this well done remake. It's not "high art" but a very satisfying alternative to all the effects laden super hero movies that are being forced on us.
