Best ever
The makers of BORAT are definitely mad at someone, I`m just not sure whom...
`BORAT` never overcomes its primary weakness: the absence of a wholly likable character for its audience to care about and root for. At best, its an overlong character study about a none-too-interesting character; at worst, its a terribly protracted SNL skit with fewer laughs than usual.
Brilliant. Very funny. And yes, the film is a satire, and I know what satire is, and this one is scathing, up there with Strangelove (war), RoboCop (business), and Network (TV). It`s funny, but it also presents some awful things about people and their general ignorance. Borat is completely made up and too outrageous to be taken seriously, but there are people who amazingly think like him, and he gets people to say some incredibly awful things.
Rent "Pee-Wee`s Big Adventure" instead.
It really blows.
Horrendous.
Better than I could imagine!
ugh... it was painful to watch.
Very funny movie. I don`t usually find `toilet humour` funny - but in this case: well .. I couldn`t help but laugh myself silly. I haven`t seen the Borat character before and I still found it very funny. A word of warning: This movie is NOT at all politically correct. If you`re sensitive to that kind of thing then go listen to CBC Radio (which I listen to, by the way). If you have a sense of humour (even an intellectual one) then you`ll enjoy this movie. Remember: he makes fun of Jew`s but he IS a Jew himself. Oh .. and don`t take the kids - this isn`t for them (should have been rated 18A).
