brilliant film. beautifully done.
This movie is really great. Nathalie Portman shines in this as Nina, the 250% dedicated ballerina ready for anything thrown at her even if all is in her head. Dark movie, not what you'd expect but very good. I've seen it once, I'll see it again and I'll buy the DVD for sure.
The "Black Swan" is perhaps one of the most highly-stylized and incredibly subtle horror films ever made. It appears to disguise itself as a drama but is in fact a surreal nightmare--an extremely claustrophobic one. It is incredibly brutal and horrific on a much deeper level than any genre film. Here the horror is psychological and emotional. Yet still impacts you with real "jump-in-your-seat" fright. I'm glad I did not see the trailer before I saw the film. I was expecting a story about an ambitious ballerina...so glad I got something much more complex and layered with lasting resonance. It is an outstanding film in all aspects of craftsmanship and deserves its accolades. It is tightly p
Black Swan was so exhilarating, you never know whats going to happen next, i loved it from beginning to end!
I thought this movie was amazing. Great detail with the inclusion of symbols and themes. Would have to see it a few more times to fully enjoy the brilliant nature of the writing and acting
Excellent. A great movie that tells a great story. About the people, the passion and the pitfalls.
A compelling film that defies easy classification. It is a retelling of Swan Lake, a psychological thriller in the vein of Polanski's Repulsion, a tale of sexual awakening, and a portrait of an artist's passion, among other descriptions. Black Swan is seamlessly shot and choreographed, and reminds those of us tired of excessive CGI effects and mindless 3D conversions why a trip to the cinema can be as worthwhile as a visit to a gallery or museum. This is the kind of film that makes me want to enroll in a Film Studies program to further explore its meanings and cement its place in the canon of contemporary cinema.
Dark and twisty and often unexpected. A definite see but be warned at times is quite graphic.
A frightening look into obsession and fanatism against the backdrop of every little girls dream - becoming a ballerina.
Dramatic and very artistic! The best movie Portman has ever done by far!! The role was made for her! It is dark and intense. Anyone who loves dance or the theatre will love this movie!
