In the official trailer for the French film Marguerite, we're taken back to 1920s Paris where a woman named Marguerite Dumont (Catherine Frot) is preparing to sing to a small crowd at a mansion. Guests assume positions and as musicians play instruments to accompany her, Marguerite begins. However, her voice is anything but pleasant. She's off-key, her pitch is painfully irritating, and onlookers chuckle.
As the trailer continues, it's revealed that Marguerite's passion is music. She sings four to five hours a day and dreams of putting on a "real concert." To do so, she enlists the help of a teacher who calls her voice "interesting" and "personal." But as her concert date approaches, those closest to her fear that she'll be devastated if she ever hears the truth about her lack of talent.
