Amazing music! The story is good. Acting is great. Go see it.
The music was worth the film. The motivations of the characters were never explored except the main character who just wanted to be the best. It was sort of a replay of Full Metal Jacket with the psychotic sergeant being the music instructor Both parts were unrealistic in that any person that carried their ruthless obsessions to that extent would be sent to the looney bin by their employer. There are internal balancing mechanisms in society which makes that level of intensity only a horror fantasy. Not realistic. And yes I have been in both intense military training and college level music school.... neither were accurately represented here in my opinion..
I recommend you go see this movie if you haven't. One of the best movies of the 21st century so far.
Exemplary view of what it takes to excel in ones' field of interest. Both JK and Miles are FABULOUS in this movie... the bar scene where JK lays down the demise of jazz music is spot on. The commitment to be the best you can be is on display.
good movie.
Brilliant, heartbreaking, honest, flawlessly acted.
Fantastic movie!!
One of the best films I've seen in the past few years.
Loved this movie. The acting by the drummer, Miles Teller and of JK Simmons was outstanding.
Terrific, I had a long drive from one corner of the city to the opposite side just to see this film in limited release, but would do it again in a heartbeat for such a rewarding experience.
