Helen Mirren was amazing - a great ensemble and moving cinematography!
Curious adaptation of the classic play just misses the mark due to some miscasting and some over-the-top hard to take special effects and a great deal of overacting by Djimon Hounsou and Alfred Molina. It's not likely that we will see again a cast which includes Russel Brand and Chris Cooper and Helen Mirren(who is quite good as usual.)!
Too creepy for me.
After seeing "Titus", I was so excited for this film (being yet another of Taymor's "interesting" takes on Shakespeare)--but alas-- I was bored to tears. "The Tempest" is what you are left with when you take "Titus" and rip out everything and anything even remotely artistic, surreal, insane, interesting, enticing, shocking, violent, brilliant, perverse and majestic about it—the barer than bare bones of a brutally scavenged Shakespearean carcass.
really different movie................
Hard to understand some of the actors
Visually stunning in a way that can only be rivaled by Gilliam, this adaptation of The Tempest is worth the effort. It goes to show that Shakespearean adaptations are not the sole playground of Sir Kenneth Branagh.
This movie is a magical masterpiece! Something to get the kids into thinking shakespear more then boring elderly reading. Showing that he's more then just their commonly known "romeo and juliet " author. LOVE IT !
this looks awsome but weird at? the same time the movie seems ok, just ok.
What a cast- I really enjoyed this
