Movie needs a trailer. Other than that I enjoyed it.
The movie was OK. A little slow. I like Nic Cage but there is no way he is the "new" Clint Eastwood of westerns. As proof, go back and see "A Fistful of Dollars" and "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". Clint is still king of the good old "shoot 'em up". I guess I still remember Nic Cage in "Raising Arizona".
This movie was similar to the TV shows and western movies of yesteryear. Appaloosa was a more recent film that had a similar vibe. I enjoyed the film because everything didn't start exploding in the first seven minutes, the word quantum was never mentioned, it was not 3D, and it had a good storyline. If you liked any of the old TV shows like The Rifleman, The Rebel, Wagon Train, Gun Smoke, Paladin, etc. back in the day you will like this film.
Nicholas Cage is the new Clint Eastwood/John Wayne!!!!!!
I liked this movie mostly for the dialogue and Nicholas cage Most westerns have a lot of action and not much dialogue or the dialogue is short and frank. This director incorporated some in-site into the nature of man in the western frontier. I would like to see more of that in future Westerns. There were some unique features to this movie, when the girl sorted the jelly beans and washed each one individually, for example. The worst actor was Macallister. He kept smiling when he was supposed to be a cold blooded killer and robber. He did not pull this off at all. What a coward too!! Why did Briggs kill his father anyway? He killed his wife and the girls mother. I would have called that even. Flaw in story line. Show the robbery, where they the money was stolen. Who were the other 3 guys and were did they come from. If they saw the two of them walking to school, how did they not see the 4 of them. Why walk anyway? Where was the school and town? Where were all the people? They killed to many horses. Seven people of the federal marshal ? Typically in Westerns they are pretty tough and usually travel alone or at the most three. I watch a lot of westerns. At least have a purpose. One actually looked dangerous. The leader was a coward, shot a woman in the back and shot the horse. Were were they? were was it? They were on there way to colorado. The other reason I watch westerns is the horse back riding and insite to native Americans. I recommend seeing this movie, but if the director had put a little more money and effort and done his research or watched a-lot of westerns and put new twist, in-site to the western frontier with out the depressing parts, he may have a had a blockbuster-at least relative to what is put out today. Look forward to seeing Nicholas cage in another western. He is perfect!
