Look, this movie is from the 60's so there are aspects that are dated. Movie making has change (maybe not always for the better). This is based on a true story, a daring escape from a German pow camp in WWII. If you can accept that it is 60 years old, it is a great, fun film. It's a classic. It is filled with major stars, many of whom today's audiences might not recognize. It harken back to the days when every single American was proud of our country. What is good about this country today was created by the folks who made movies like this. Optimists who saw America as facing no obstacle that could not be overcome. No pressing social issue that could not be faced and solved. Give in to a feeling that is no longer in our national consciousness and enjoy the hell out of a movie like this.
