Peter Jackson's first Hollywood film is an interminable mess. The (unscary) horror and the (unfunny) comedy are like oil and water, constantly working against each other. Michael J. Fox tries bur he's on especially shaky ground here.
Very entertaining movie that carefully walks the line between being scary and funny. Jackson did a good job. Micheal J. Fox is great, as usual!
Jackson wanted his film to be both a disturbing horror film and a screwball comedy. The divergent tones cancel the film out. Jackson's Achilles heel -pacing- is a strong problem here too: this film is way overlong.
