Stone Destiny was surprisingly amusing and very funny. A great flick all in all.
I really liked this movie.
Bland TV movie/Scottish Nationalist Party political broadcast. Script finds itself uncomfortably stranded between gentle Ealing comedy and OTT speechifying about oppression by the dastardly English who don't actually do much oppressing. This lack of any real tension rather scuppers the whole whole film and all that is really left is some shrill sub-Mel Gibson anglophobia. The fact that it died a quiet death at the Scottish box office tells its own story.
Terrific movie with great sense of humour. As a Scottish Nationalist am definitely biased but would have been just as much fun if it was a Welsh or Irish story. Caught the mood of the country.
One doesn't need to be of Scottish background to enjoy this movie. There were moments of tension when the stone was being removed from the Abbey. Great fun, lots of laughs. The Scottish nationalists portray their love for Scotland. The acting by Ian Hamilton was excellent.
