This film is a work of art, from begining to end. A moving painting, sort of speak. The interpretation of Yolande Moreau, the reality of the shots, the editting, everything is magnificent. What a breath of fresh air for the ones that really appreciate the art of cinema. The special effect is the magic that surrounds it.
The interconnections between art, nature, daily life and spirituality as portrayed in SÉRAPHINE make it a wonderfully philosophical meditation as well as an amazing story.
An absolutely stunning film. Director Martin Provost, with a team of highly skilled designers, has created one of the finest examples of the art of filmmaking. Yolande Moreau inhabits the role of Séraphine giving a performance that goes far beyond the limits of mere acting. The supporting cast is outstanding, particularly Ulrich Tukur (THE LIVES OF OTHERS). This jewel of French cinema won 7 Cesar Awards including Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Actress.
This film is truly magnificent -- visually awesome! Yolande Moreau (Seraphine) will sweep you away. the storyline is touching and exciting at once. Anyone interested in art, in a visual feast of old, small village France, in colour, mood, pace.... a music score so intrinsic to the story that it disappears....best film I've seen in years. Ecstacy on celluloid.
