Great movie. It has a few flaws, but overall, very compelling. Anthony (Martin Papazian) and Wade (Tristan Lake Leabu) are spot-on with their performances. We see the vet suffering from what he experienced doing his duty, and the kid whose world is breaking apart after having been disappointed too many times, both having to deal with a feeling of guilt that they couldn’t prevent what has happened from happening. The supporting cast is at times a bit overacting: the nurse a bit too compassionate, the social worker a bit too grumpy. But, overall a good mix. I know where the writer/director wanted to go with the accident at the motel, it feels a bit forced but is nevertheless an important scene. If you were ever in Anthony‘s or Wade‘s shoes, you will recognize yourself. A great story of mutual support and understanding.
