Larry Cohen made IT'S ALIVE, his killer- baby chemical-panic movie on a shoestring budget and it was his biggest hit. Scary and smart, Cohen tapped social issues and topical fears while delivering the horrific goods, a trademark for the talented and underappreciated filmmaker. Bernard Herrmann provides the terrific music, one of his last. Effects whiz Rick Baker created the mutant baby creation, which Cohen wisely decided to keep mostly hidden. The great character actor John P. Ryan played the one lead role of his carrer in this one, and he does a great job here. Check this one out and check out Cohen's other films too.
