I knew nothing of this film beforehand. No trailers, no reviews, no history, no list of actors, etc. I often find that this is the best way to REALLY experience a film. There is nothing 'Hollywood' about this one. It captured me from the first moment and held me within its story for the duration. It also helped that I recognized none of the actors (with the exception of Andrea Martin, of course) so I was able to experience the characters rather than the performers. I found myself mesmerized and deeply touched throughout. It was like a good book in the sense that although the story was difficult, I was actually sorry to see it come to an end.
Great movie , very good acting , brings up profound truths on the human condition , so realistic ! Diane is a determined atheist with a lot of love to give , but she is hard on herself . How Without Faith , Despair grabs the best people . All themes are there : family commitment , friend' support , love in action , loneliness , death , freedom to reject religion ... I wish the movie to be more emotional , not the cold accurate picture of a strong woman , but a warm story to make us feel for her and shed tears at the end ! To balance Joy and Sadness , so it would look less depressing ...
Depressing, sad, with little in the way of redemption or hope. Good acting, slow and sad story.
A couple of scenes were very good. Otherwise, it was like overhearing conversation in a restaurant while waiting for your meal to come -- nothing particularly memorable.
Liked: subject matter and acting Disliked: pace and confusing distortion of time
