Early feature from Bob Clark is one of many Night of the Living Dead rip-offs. This one is fun but overly talky and poorly paced for the most part. It takes a while to get to the zombie stuff. The dated hippie nonsense and fashion make this a real time capsule. The acting is fairly good but some of the characters may grate on your nerves. Alan Ormsby plays his obnoxious character to the hilt. He also handled the excellent zombie makeup effects and wears a horrendous/awesome pair of pants in the movie. Jeff Gillen later played the mean department store Santa Claus in Bob Clark's A Christmas Story. Director Clark went on to make some better horror films like Deathdream (written by Ormsby) and the masterpiece Black Christmas before making more mainstream fare. Horror fanatics will want to check out this curio from the 1970s, probably the best era for cinematic horror.
Entertaining NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD rip-off with a remarkable performance by Alan Ormsby who plays a loathsome theater director. Ormsby's pants add to the awesomeness.
