Although the show had its nice moments, I am generally disappointed. The camerawork was schizophrenic, constantly jumping between the stage, the conductor, and the audience, without lingering on anything for more than 3 seconds. Most of the time, the viewer simply saw the people in the audience. Although some of the soloists were new, the entire show was stylistically and structurally exactly the same as last year. Rieux's addresses to the audience were so simplistic in content that it raised the question of why he even bothered to speak. It's something worth watching once, but the second time it offers nothing new.
So disappointed that we saw so little of the concert and SO much of the audience. I felt that I was watching a film about an audience enjoying a show.
Last year there were lovely Christmas Carol's the reason we really celebrate Christmas - not so much Santa and secular songs. Andre should know this, it was more like a normal concert. There is more to Christmas than trees and lights
Looking forward to the next one.
