Loved this movie. Character development was exquisite, especially the American colonel played by Leiv Schriber. Fascinated by what and why Hemingway chose to develop this complex interwoven love story, that hung on a framework for a plan to go duck hunting. Believe Hemingway enjoyed the sport.
I saw this today and was absolutely thrilled with the movie. It teaches you what war is all about. Basically a business. It was also set in Venice with beautiful architecture and music. In this movie you can experience many things in life

This was a Canaletto painting brought to life, and with a superb cast led by Liev Schrieber. Set in Venice in 1954, Schrieber portrays a survivor of two world wars, and a colonel in the U. S. army who is haunted by his memories of fighting in Italy and the subsequent loss of life. Visually, this is a stunning piece of film-making marked by superb casting.
