Californian Tyler Patrick Jones was discovered at the age of five at a birthday party in Northridge, California. He starting taking acting classes, and his first appearance was in a Sprint commercial, for which he had to memorize 36 lines. He also appeared in a commercial for Hallmark that won him an "Outstanding Young Performer in a National Commercial" award from the Young Artists Awards in April 2002. He also appeared on episodes of Judging Amy, Family Law and So Little Time.
Just two days after his seventh birthday, Jones found out that Steven Spielberg had selected him for a supporting role in the feature film Minority Report (2002), starring Tom Cruise. His second film role came shortly afterward, as Ed Norton's son in Red Dragon (2002), starring Anthony Hopkins, Ralph Fiennes and Harvey Keitel. For TV, he appeared in the telefilm Silver Lake for the UPN network and Fathers and Sons for Showtime, and played a recurring role as mischievous neighbor Chris in the WB series Summerland. Returning to features, he played Timmy Lupus in Bad News Bears opposite Billy Bob Thornton and Dennis Quaid's son in Yours, Mine & Ours (2005). From 2006 to 2007 he played the regular role of Ned Banks on the hit TV series Ghost Whisperer, and has voiced a role in the major motion picture G-Force (2009).
Jones enjoys swimming, soccer, basketball and baseball. He has also played piano since the age of two.
