Born in Massachusetts, Sarah Drew graduated from the University of Virginia in May 2002 with a degree in drama. She then moved to Los Angeles, where she quickly landed a small role in the major motion picture Radio (2003), starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Ed Harris.
By 2004 she had a recurring role on the popular TV series Everwood, playing Chris Pratt's love interest, Hannah. When the show came to an end in 2006, Sarah continued to work in independent films and made guest appearances on a number of TV shows, including Medium, Private Practice, and Castle. A recurring role on Mad Men from 2008 to 2009 was followed by a starring role as Dr. April Kepner on the hit series Grey's Anatomy from 2009 to 2014.
She landed her first starring role in a major motion picture in Moms' Night Out (2014), playing a mother whose night out with the girls goes all wrong.
In June 2002 Sarah married Peter Lanfer. Their son, Micah Emmanuel Lanfery, was born in 2012.
