PATRICIA ARQUETTE
Date of Birth: April 8, 1968
With showbiz in her genes (her grandfather was "Charlie Weaver" on Hollywood Squares), it only made sense when Patricia Arquette decided to "give it a try" as an actress.
While granddad was on TV, Arquette and her siblings were being raised on a commune by her father, Lewis (an occasional Broadway actor), and her mother, Mardi, a poet and political activist. The house was stacked high with newspapers, leaflets, and poetry.
This groovy upbringing created a brood of future actors and writers. Big sister Roseanna Arquette is an actress and a great counsel when it comes to choosing roles, mastering scenes, and finding the best hotels in Cannes. Younger brother, David, is also in the business and is married to actress Courteney Cox.
Following her sister's footsteps (some might say even eclipsing her), Arquette worked steadily in TV and movies before scoring a featured role in Sam Shepard's Far North. She parlayed that into a series of interesting, secondary parts in out-of-the-mainstream flicks like Sean Penn's The Indian Runner and Inside Monkey Zetterland.
Her work in the Quentin Tarantino-scripted True Romance made Arquette the darling of cult directors, and in rapid succession she made Ed Wood with Tim Burton, Flirting With Disaster for David O. Russell, and David Lynch's decidedly weird Lost Highway.
Arquette became a household name in 2005 when she signed on to star in the new CBS series Medium. The show was an instant hit, and it didn't hurt when Arquette won an Emmy that same year for her portrayal of Allison Dubois, a mother and wife with psychic powers that help her solve criminal cases.
In 2002, Patricia began playing the mother of a small boy in Boyhood (2014), a movie that filmed one week each year for 12 years and followed a boy growing up. For her work in the groundbreaking film, Patricia won a Supporting Actress Golden Globe and received her first Academy Award nomination.
In 2019, she starred in the true crime drama series The Act on Hulu. She won a Golden Globe award for playing real-life Dee Dee Blanchard, who was brutally stabbed to death in 2015.
In 1995 Patricia married Nicholas Cage, who doggedly pursued her for eight years before she finally said "yes." Unfortunately, the marriage ended in divorce six years later. Her second marriage was to actor Thomas Jane in 2006, with whom she has a daughter. She filed for divorce in 2009, asking for full and legal custody.
